Upon arrival at the airport in Yangon, pickup and transfer to the hotel for check-in. Spend the time till later afternoon at your leisure. Then the guide will pick you up and escorts you for sunset to the good 100 meter high gilded Shwedagon Pagoda. After visiting Myanmar’s most holy place the tour continues to Little India. This district will take you straight to India without living Myanmar. Besides the exotic sights, smells and sound you will visit the photogenic Sri Kali Indian temple. The tour leads to Chinatown with its colorful night market, where you visit the Cantonese Kwan Yin temple. Adjoining is the 19th street, famous for its restaurants. Here you can have a delightful meal before transfer back to the hotel.
After breakfast, drive through the picturesque landscape some 80 kilometers north-west of Yangon to Bago. Bago was the capital of the Mon kingdom which origins lay back in the 6th centuries. In Bago visit first Shwethalyaung Pagoda with its beautiful 55 meter long reclining Buddha. Then head to the Shwemawdaw Pagoda which is built in the traditional Mon-style and about 114 m high. Afterwards stop at the restored palace of Kambozathi followed by a subsequent stroll through the colorful market of the city. On the way back to Yangon visit a war cemetery of allied troops in the vicinity of Htaukkyan. Back in Yangon enjoy a pleasant stroll through the Kandawgyi Park. Watch a fantastic sunset, with the outstanding Shwedagon reflecting in the water of the lake. Transfer to your hotel or to a restaurant of your choice.
After breakfast drive to Thanlyin and visit the Kyaik Khauk Pagoda, built in typical Mon architecture. Then head to the Kyauktan river island for the Yele Pagoda. There are fantastic sculptures, paintings and other fine art works to be admired, demonstrating the impressive craftsmanship of early Burmese Buddhist art. In the afternoon drive back to Yangon and visit the 65 meter long reclining Buddha at the Chaukhtatkyi Pagoda. Then head for a stroll through the Bogyoke Aung San market. It is also called Scott Market and has numerous shops, selling all kinds of handicrafts. Overnight stay at the hotel in Yangon.
The tour guide picks you up in the hotel after breakfast and shows the famous Sule Pagoda. Opportunity to let your future been foretold by a fortune teller. On the way to Mahabandoola Park you can admire some of the well preserved colonial buildings. Continue along the Pansodan Street to the river and further on to the Victorian-style Strand Hotel. It is a good place for some refreshments before heading to the Merchant Street for another stop at a Burmese tea shop. The guide will escort you after to a restaurant of your choice where you can have lunch. Transfer back to the airport in Yangon.
