Would you like to experience the life of a mahout? This opportunity is offered through a training program. Normally, a mahout is also the owner of the elephant. He is responsible for the physical and mental health of the animal. The necessary trusting relationship lasts the whole life. The offered program gives a good insight into this uncommon relationship.
Pick up in the morning at your hotel. Transfer to the Mae Sa Elephant Camp, placed in a lush tropical valley on the banks of a mountain river. You are greeted by the Mahout instructor. After changing into working cloths check in at the Mahout lodges. Short briefing of the training program. Meet with the team of instructors and the elephants. Enjoy the daily elephant show. Then learn the basic commands for elephants. After lunch at the camp you get some more training. Then it’s time to ride your designated elephant to a hill tribe village where you send it into the jungle. Afterwards have some free time. In the evening help with the cooking and eat with the other mahouts together. Overnight at the camp.
Wake up early in the morning and bring the elephants from the jungle back to the camp ground. Breakfast at the camp. Afterwards bath the elephants in the river. Lunch is provided at the campsite. Do some artist paintings with the elephants and enjoy another ride back to the rest area. In the later afternoon a certificate ceremony is held. Check out from the Mahout Lodge and transfer back to Chiang Mai.
End of service.
