Drive to the historical Hellfire Pass where during World War II a railway line was built to Burma by prisoners of war. After breakfast at the Resort short drive to the city. Visit the Wat Si Chum temple with its carved teakwood pillars and ceilings. Continue along the mountain roads towards Chiang Mai. Boat trip along the mighty Mekong River towards the Golden Triangle. Stop at the Laotian river island. Lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the impressive sandbanks in the Mekong. Explore the Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet. Visit the interesting Opium Museum. Afterwards transfer to your hotel in Chiang Rai.
After breakfast drive through the mountains towards Phayao province. Stop at the largest natural lake in Thailand. Continue on scenic roads towards Phrae. Lunch at a local restaurant. Visit one of the most famous temples of the region, built on a hill. Enjoy the beautiful view over the countryside. After crossing one more mountain range the region starts to open up.
